Nathan will be leading a reading and discussion group on award winning author, James K. A. Smith’s, “You Are What You Love: the Spiritual Power of Habit”.
In this fresh and accessible book, Smith “helps readers recognize the formative power of culture and the transformative possibilities of Christian practices. He explains that worship is the “imagination station” that incubates our loves and longings so that our cultural endeavors are indexed toward God and his kingdom.”
The book study will take place over three Saturday morning brunches – cooked by Nathan – at 10:00 am on August 11, August 25, and September 8. We’ll meet at First Church, in the Macdonald Room upstairs. Two chapters will be discussed at each meeting – which means you only need to read one short chapter every week to keep up with the study. This will be an accessible way to explore how our habits shapes our spiritual lives.
The book is $20 on Amazon but please speak to Nathan, Lloyd or Clara if this is a barrier. Ask Nathan if you have any questions about the book or what the study will involve.
